Msgr. John F. Wippel, Provost Emeritus of the University and Professor Emeritus of the School of Philosophy, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023, a few days after his 90th birthday. Msgr. Wippel was a devout servant of Truth, a lucid teacher of St. Thomas, and a pillar of Catholic metaphysical thought. The Catholic philosophical tradition, and in particular, the University’s School of Philosophy, is immensely in his debt. May he rest in peace.
